Location
Volcanoes National Park is located in northwestern Rwanda, part of the Virunga Mountains volcanic range that spans Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park covers 160 square kilometers of pristine montane forest and is home to over 10 habituated mountain gorilla families. The park is easily accessible from Musanze town, just a 2-hour drive from Kigali, Rwanda's capital.
